Behavioral Consultations

Using Compassion & Science

Behavior Assessments involve looking at genetic predispositions, the patient’s experiences and history, the health of the patient, the environment and context, and setting realistic expectations. I generally break down my approach to behavior problems in the following way: How can we manage the problem? How can we modify the behavior of both humans and pets? Would the patient benefit from Medication?

Goals of treatment:

  1. Safety First: for Humans and Pets
  2. Humane techniques and tools using modern understanding of canine/feline behavior
  3. Nurturing the human-animal bond
  4. Building trust and attentiveness between owner and pet
  5. Understanding the approach of positive reinforcement behavior modification
  6. Addressing any underlying issues such as anxiety, fears or phobias
  7. Understanding the cross over between medical and psychological reasons for behavior.
